The Hard Ask

In the fall of 2011 I was a senior at Western Kentucky University and majoring in financial planning. Like most 21 year old guys I was trying to figure out what came next in my life.

Majoring in the business world and being a young man there was a lot of pressure to chase the ‘all important dollar’…but I knew in my heart that God was taking me some different places than most of my classmates.

I made a commitment to the Lord and myself that semester that has drastically affected my life since then, and will continue to shape it moving forward. I promised I would never let money be the driving factor in where I went, what I did and how I lived my life. At the root of my decisions would be the Holy Spirit and if financial success happened to come along the way that would be great.

In the 5 years since that day I’ve lived an incredibly ‘rich’ life. It has just looked a little different than the business world. I’ve taught elementary English in South Korea for a year, had two seasonal jobs with Samaritan’s Purse and their Operation Christmas Child ministry and spent the majority of my time on staff or serving with Adventures in Missions all over the world.

My current job gives me the chance to work and train people from the office in Gainesville, GA while also spending time overseas with my World Race squad. This year I am serving in Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Romania, Hungary and South Africa. Next year will bring a new set of opportunities and people to share the love of Christ with.

My job also requires me to raise $12,000 a year in support.

It’s hard to perfectly explain my job, but simply put I am investing in people’s lives and doing my best to live out the ‘church’ that Jesus taught his disciples. In doing so it takes me and the people I serve with all over the world…and also right here in Georgia.

I struggle to ask for support…my pride has a bad habit of getting in the way. If you know me well you know that I’m also incredibly frugal. Most of my days on the field with my squad are spent on $5/day for food and the same for lodging, but here in Georgia I also share a room and keep a tight reign on my expenses. It’s something I want to be able to control and do on my own.

Asking for support can be a hard ask….but in reality it’s an invitation into what God is doing in my life. An investment in His KINGDOM

My journey isn’t just my own, and it can’t be done alone. I am praying for monthly supporters to help make the 2017 fiscal year possible.

I am in need of:

$100/monthly supporters: 3

$50/monthly supporters: 4

$25/monthly supporters: 7

A huge THANK YOU for everyone has supported me over the last few years. With finances, prayer and encouragement…you guys are all a part of what I get to be able to live out and I am eternally grateful.
